Total magnification with a microscope is calculated by multiplying the objective lens magnification by the eyepiece magnification, for each combination of eyepiece and objective lens that the microscope comes with.
A rather unique included detail of the Levenhuk 50L NG student compound microscope is that it also includes a 2x Barlow lens, which screws onto the end of an objective lens and effectively doubles the magnification provided by that lens (while halving the focal distance, meaning you need to be closer to the sample to focus when using this lens).

The Levenhuk 50L NG student compound microscope, like other microscopes in the Rainbow Series, sports a dual illumination system with adjustable brightness built into the dial at the bottom of the base. The illuminators serve different purposes–the transmitted (bottom) illuminator for biological translucent samples on slides, while the reflected (top) serves to view opaque samples which light cannot pass through. Both lights use LED bulbs, which ensures minimal energy consumption, yet still provide more than sufficient light for viewing.
Illumination systems are located above and below the stage, and allow observing both transparent and opaque objects: from tiny solid particles to coins, paper, fabrics, etc. (It would be fascinating to observe a mobile phone screen – actually, each pixel consists of three segments, red, green and blue.)
The Levenhuk 50L NG can be powered with its included AC adapter, for viewing inside without batteries, or can be powered by 3 AA batteries if it needs to be taken into the field.
Caution: Please refer to the specifications table for the correct voltage. This unit ships as a 110v unit. Never attempt to plug a 110V device into 220V outlet and vice versa without using a step down or step up converter, depending on which voltage you need to change to.
